About This Instrument
The Illumina NextSeq 550 is a flexible, mid-throughput next-generation sequencer designed for a wide range of genomic applications. It uses two-channel Sequencing by Synthesis chemistry to generate high-quality short-read data with read lengths up to 2 × 150 bp. The system supports whole-exome sequencing, RNA-seq, targeted panels, and small-genome sequencing. With interchangeable Mid-Output and High-Output flow cells, it can produce 16–120 Gb per run, making it suitable for medium-scale projects. A key advantage is its built-in array scanning capability, enabling genotyping and methylation analysis. Overall, the NextSeq 550 provides reliable performance, flexibility, and efficient workflows.
